Because Bourbon LLC started with a simple raffle win in December 2023 at Universal Wine & Liquor in Stratford, CT. The opportunity to buy a Parker’s Heritage 10-Year Rye at cost not only landed me a rare bottle but also sparked a friendship with the store’s co-owner, Jeel. Through Jeel’s tasting events, I connected with Travers, Scott, Peter, John, Jason—and our shared love for bourbon turned into lasting friendships.
When it came time to name our group chat, I suggested “Because Bourbon”—because bourbon had, quite literally, brought us together. The name stuck, and so did our bond.
Because Bourbon is about celebrating these connections and sharing the unique experiences that come from them. Every day brings new friendships, opportunities, and possibilities—all happening… Because Bourbon.

Because Bourbon began as a simple idea—a way to bring together people who love whiskey and bourbon as much as I do. What started with casual conversations and tastings quickly grew into something much larger: a shared journey with friends, an evolving library of unique bourbons and whiskeys, and a platform where I share reviews on Instagram, Facebook, and soon, YouTube.
Over the past year, I’ve been lucky enough to take part in some unforgettable moments with Jeel at Universal Wine & Liquor in Stratford, Connecticut. Together, we’ve (including the Because Bourbon OGs!) curated a series of unique Single Barrel Store Picks. Thanks to Jeel’s vision, his store has become a go-to destination for some of THE best store picks in Connecticut, in only its 1st year since opening in September of 2023. These experiences have opened the door to endless possibilities—both now and for the future.
Beyond that, I’ve launched my own line of Because Bourbon apparel and accessories, giving people a way to carry a piece of our community with them. At its heart, Because Bourbon has always been about one thing: connection. Whether you’re a longtime enthusiast or just starting your bourbon journey, we’re here to celebrate the stories, friendships, and experiences that bring us together—because bourbon is the spirit that unites us.
